Good News - New Coverage for New Moms!
The Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Yummy Mummy applauds the Affordable Care Act, the health insurance reform signed into law August 1, 2012, for recognizing breastfeeding and its undeniable “preventative” health benefits to both mother and baby— something we've known for a long time!
The ACA requires health insurance plans to cover womens' preventative services oftentimes with no cost-sharing (co-payments, co-insurance or deductibles) to the mother. For mom that may mean a double electric breast pump, breast pump supplies, counseling and support. What's more? Yummy Mummy will deliver all of these items to your home free of charge!
Preventative health care coverage begins with your first plan/policy year that begins on or after August 1, 2012. Contact your health insurance provider to confirm how your plan is affected.
Yummy Mummy is currently an in-network provider with Aetna Health Insurance, Blue Shield - CA, Cigna, EmblemHealth (GHI and HIP), Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Lifewise, POMCO Group, and Premera Blue Cross. We will be expanding to other plans in the near future. If you are on an insurance plan other than those listed above, please contact your health care provider to ask if you have out-of-network benefits which means you may be able to submit a receipt from Yummy Mummy for reimbursement.
