Mother's Milk Sangria Style Iced Tea

Mother’s Milk Sangria Style Iced Tea to Beat the Summer Heat

Contributed by Mary Ausman of Yummy Mummy, and proud mother of two.

As the weather gets warmer, we all know how important it is to stay hydrated - especially for new moms who are nursing. Hydrating is important to keep up milk supply and for overall health.  One of my friends has come up with a brilliant way to take care of both - a Mother's Milk Iced Tea Sangria.

Mother’s Milk tea is a combination of traditional herbs such as fennel, anise (which give it a licorice-like taste), coriander & fenugreek - which aides in breastmilk production. Drinking the tea is a refreshing and easy way to help keep your milk supply healthy.

When you have time - I used do it in the evening before settling down - brew your Mother's Milk Tea in the concentration you typically enjoy and pour it into a pitcher to chill in your fridge overnight.  In the morning, cut up some apples, grapes, strawberries, peaches (really any fruit you enjoy) and add to the pitcher - you can also add a bit of agave, juice or honey if you like your tea sweeter.

Try adding some of the tea to your ice cube trays. This helps keep your tea icy cold without diluting it.

Fill up your water bottle and take it with you on the go, or enjoy sipping this refreshing treat while nursing your little one. This makes it much easier to keep up with your hydration during your busy day!
